Won in emphatic style 12 months ago by the subsequent G1 Champion S. hero Fascinating Rock (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}), Saturday's G3 KMPG Enterprise S. or Kilternan S. at Leopardstown has the potential to supply another of that ilk in the fellow Dermot Weld-trained Zhukova (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}).
Given the summer break that her handler promised after her latest impressive success in the G3 Blue Wind S. over 10 furlongs at Naas May 11, the imposing bay is ready to make the autumn her own.
First she has to subdue the June 4 G1 Epsom Derby runner-up US Army Ranger (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who bids to step up on his return fourth in the 10-furlong G3 Royal Whip at The Curragh Aug. 21.
Aidan O'Brien, who also saddles last year's G1 St Leger runner-up Bondi Beach (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), said, “It was probably a little bit unfair to ask him to run in the Derby. He went to Epsom and was a little bit raw and green. He's a very good colt and we were happy with his comeback run. He'd had a good break, it got a bit messy coming off the bend but he still ran a very good race.”
