American Gal Returns in Victory Ride

Kaleem Shah homebred American Gal (Concord Point) makes her first start of the year in Sunday's GIII Victory Ride S. at Belmont Park. The filly, under the care of Bob Baffert last year, aired by 6 1/2 lengths in the Oct. 23 Anoakia S. at Santa Anita before closing late to be third in the Nov. 5 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. She concluded her 2-year-old campaign with a runner-up effort in the Dec. 10 GI Starlet S. and makes her first start for trainer Simon Callaghan in the 6 1/2-furlong Victory Ride.

Vertical Oak (Giant Oak), an open-lengths victress of the Apr. 29 Goldfinch S. at Prairie Meadows, was a 3 3/4-length winner of the May 19 GIII Miss Preakness S. The chestnut looks to get back on track after being declared a non-starter after hitting the gate at the start of the June 11 Jersey Girl S. last time out.

Belka Stud's Too Much Tip (Too Much Bling) began her career with five straight wins in Puerto Rico. She makes her second stateside trip to the post for trainer Wesley Ward off a solid fourth-place effort behind Vertical Oak in the Miss Preakness S.
