Bidding on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed, bloodstock agent John Ferguson, who purchased a daughter of A.P. Indy for a session-topping $3.1 million during Monday's opening day of trade at Keeneland, went back to the well Tuesday, going to an even $1 million for the first foal out of 2005 GI Personal Ensign H. winner Shadow Cast (Smart Strike). The bay daughter of A.P. Indy was consigned by Lane's End, which raced Shadow Cast to three graded-stakes wins on the main track and another on the turf. She retired to the breeding shed with nine wins from 21 starts and earnings of $923,751. Shadow Cast is the dam of a weanling colt by Storm Cat and was covered by A.P. Indy's champion son Bernardini earlier this year.
