Silver Assault bowled along neatly on the engine through fractions of :21.84 and :45.07. Still in front in upper stretch, the gray raced greenly and appeared to lose some focus as Chasing Aces and Law Abidin Citizen (Twirling Candy) were giving chase from behind. Chasing Aces finally worked off the fence and had a clear shot at Silver Assault in the final sixteenth of a mile, but the 7-2 chance stayed on well and hit the line 1 1/4 lengths in front. Silver Assault is the fourth winner for his freshman sire (by Distorted Humor). A $52,000 KEESEP yearling, Silver Assault is a half-brother to Holy Candy (Candy Ride {Arg}, GSP, $161,280), as well as to Valiant Minister (Candy Ride {Arg}), who topped last year's OBS June sale at $680,000.
