This race lost a significant player after Aidan O'Brien withdrew Declarationofpeace (War Front) and the filly Treasuring took advantage by proving toughest in the conditions when making all to enhance her reputation. Beaten six lengths on debut by Declarationofpeace in a Dundalk maiden May 10, the chestnut won at Navan next time June 3 and was eighth in the G2 Queen Mary S. at Royal Ascot 18 days later. Runner-up to the subsequent Listed St Hugh's S. second Sankari Royale (Ire) (Epaulette {Aus}) in a conditions race at Down Royal July 28, she had built on that experience when defying topweight in a five-furlong nursery at Tipperary nine days prior to this engagement. Kept company on the front end by the similarly hardy Sirici throughout, she eventually saw her off to prevail from the strong-closing Goodthingstaketime.
Trainer Ger Lyons was singing the winner's praises afterwards. “She has a great temperament. If you are going to have a negative it's that she resents the stick, but she's always done that from day one and she's trying her hardest for you anyway,” he said. “She's a revelation and has done nothing but improve from her first run to here. She's out-and-out game and we've got winning black-type for her, which is a great bonus. I can only imagine that she will keep developing into the winter and be a nice three-year-old.”
Treasuring is the first foal out of the winning You Look So Good, a half-sister to three black-type performers headed by the G2 Goldene Peitsche and G3 Hamburg Trophy-winning sire Electric Beat (GB). The third dam Grey Patience is a half-sister to the Listed European Free H.-winning sire Cape Town (Ire) who was third in the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas here. Grey Patience's half-sister Tappen Zee (Ire) (Sandhurst Prince {Ire}) is the dam of the triple group 1-winning sire Paco Boy (Ire). Next up from the dam is a yearling filly by Olympic Glory (Ire) and a 2017 filly by Canford Cliffs (Ire).
