A Claiborne Farm-consigned son of their successful young stallion War Front whose second dam produced Zenyatta (Street Cry {Ire}) was knocked down to representatives of Coolmore for $800,000, the top price for a weanling during the early stages of day one of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in Lexington. The Feb. 2 foal, bred by Edward A. Cox Jr., is a son of Treasure Trail (Pulpit) and is bred on a cross that has been most productive thus far, accounting for the likes of MGSW Departing, SW and TDN Rising Star Diamond Bachelor and fellow Rising Star Console. The colt has further pedigree appeal, as his second dam Vertigineux (Kris S.) dropped champion Zenyatta. Coolmore has had a world of luck with War Front, and his son Declaration of War did the group proud with a tremendous third-place effort in his dirt debut in the GI Breeders' Cup Classic this past Saturday.
