It didn't take long for Wednesday's third session of the Keeneland September Sale to kick into high gear, as hip 495, a Claiborne Farm-consigned son of their boom sire War Front, fetched a final bid of $1.15 million from M. V. Magnier on behalf of the Coolmore braintrust. The Apr. 18 foal is a son of Orate (A.P. Indy), herself a full–sister to the late Claiborne sire Pulpit, who has crossed remarkably well as a broodmare sire with War Front, accounting for the likes of Departing and Due Diligence, among several others. It was the third and most expensive of the War Fronts acquired by Magnier, who also went to $500,000 for a son of Wild Poppy (El Prado {Ire}) Monday morning and $900,000 for a colt out of another A.P. Indy mare, Magnificent Honour, late Tuesday afternoon.
