Arc Is The Goal For Order Of St George

The Oct. 2 G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is the next target for Order Of St George (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who was eclipsed in a shock result when second as the heavy favourite in the G1 Irish St Leger 10 days ago. Having won that contest last year, the 4-year-old had also taken this year's G1 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot , as well as the G3 Irish St Leger Trial and Listed Saval Beg S. Order Of St George has entered quarantine at Ballydoyle for a potential trip to the G1 Melbourne Cup Nov. 2, but Australian Lloyd Williams, who co-owns the colt with Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith, told Racing.com, “He's a 95% chance of not coming [to Australia], but he has gone into quarantine. He's more than likely to run in the Arc, but he's in [quarantine] as an insurance, as the Arc is being run in Chantilly this year and so we'll keep an eye on the weather and the track.”

If he were to appear in the Melbourne Cup, Order Of St George would be forced to shoulder top weight of 58 kilos (128 pounds). Order Of St George also still holds an entry in the G1 Caulfield Cup Oct. 15, along with Aidan O'Brien-trained stablemates Highland Reel (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Sir Isaac Newton (GB) (Galileo {Ire}).
