Arc Runner-Up Aventure Too Good For Prix Corrida Rivals

Last term's G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe runner-up Aventure (Sea The Stars) had confirmed her wellbeing at ParisLongchamp last month and continued in similar vein with a comfortable win in Monday's G2 Prix Corrida at Saint-Cloud.

Fresh off a 2 1/2-length triumph in the G3 Prix Allez France at the capital's Bois de Boulogne venue, she settled into a smooth rhythm for most of this 10 1/2-furlong test. Cruising forward on the bridle in the straight, the 2-5 favourite quickened smartly to wrest control from last term's G1 Preis der Diana (German Oaks) heroine Erle (Reliable Man) and familiar foe Survie (Churchill) approaching the final furlong and kept on strongly under mild urging in the closing stages to register a 1 1/4-length success from the latter.

Labelled a TDN Rising Star on debut at Chantilly in 2023, the February-foaled homebred bay also annexed last term's G2 Prix de Pomone and G3 Prix de Royaumont and tuned up for her Arc run with a second in the G1 Prix Vermeille.

“She is such a good filly and, of course, it is no great surprise to win this race,” reflected winning trainer Christophe Ferland. “With these top horses in opposition, you are always concerned beforehand and hope that all goes well. This was the obvious contest to target after she won the [G3] Prix Allez France and the programme now tells us to go for the [June 29 G1] Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud [over 12 furlongs] next time.”

Pedigree Notes
Aventure, a full-sister to the unraced 3-year-old colt Astropark, is the 10th of 11 foals and one of four stakes performers out of G2 Prix de Royallieu victrix Balladeuse (Singspiel). Her dam is kin to G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud heroine Plumania (Anabaa) and to the stakes-placed dam of dual G1 Prix Royal-Oak hero Double Major (Daiwa Major). Plumania has four stakes performers to her credit headed by G2 Prix du Muguet scorer Plumatic (Dubawi). Aventure's siblings also include G1 Prix Vermeille winner Left Hand (Dubawi), Listed Prix Charles Laffitte victrix Bilissie (Dansili), G1 Prix Jean Romanet third Romanciere (Dansili) and the dam of this month's G2 Prix Saint-Alary second Audubon Park (Dubawi). Left Hand is the dam of dual stakes-winning G3 Prix de Psyche runner-up and TDN Rising Star Left Sea (Frankel) while Bilissie produced G1 Prix du Jockey Club runner-up First Look (Lope De Vega). Aventure's second dam Featherquest (Rainbow Quest), a half-sister to Group 1-winning sire Groom Dancer (Blushing Groom), hails from the family of G1 Prix Vermeille-winning champion Indian Rose (General Holme), G1 Prix Ganay-winning sire Vert Amande (Kenmare) and G1 Grand de Paris hero Le Nain Jaune (Pharly).
