Two top Argentinian farms, Haras Firmamento and Haras La Pasión, are combining forces by swapping selected bloodstock and holding joint sales to boost the Argentinian Thoroughbred industry. Juan Carlos Bagó and Ricardo Benedicto, respective founders and leaders of each organization, plan both a “genetics exchange” and a cooperative commercial sales venture.
The two farms will exchange specific broodmares “in order to develop new genetic possibilities, selecting specimens from repeated families on each side,” according to a release issued by the parties. In addition, they will also trade stallion seasons, which include Firmamento's Mastercraftsman (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) and La Pasión's Bodemeister (Empire Maker). Both stallions shuttle from the Northern Hemisphere.
Furthermore, the two farms will also hold a number of public sales together, which will be held over the next 12 months at La Pasión's sale pavilion. First up is the Haras Firmamento 2-Year-Old Spring Sale Sept. 24, followed by the Haras Firmamento and Haras La Pasión Yearling Sales and Mixed Sales Dec. 10-13. Several sales are also slotted for 2020, including the Copa Bullrich Mayo/Junio sale featuring auctioneer Antonio Bullrich. In an exclusive event, alumni of that particular sale are the only horses eligible for the traditional “Copa Bullrich” race which takes place every May at Palermo Racecourse.
A video message regarding the unique joint venture will be broadcast at the Gran Premio Pollas de Potrillos y Potrancas Saturday, Sept. 7, at Palermo.
