Arod, Gleneagles ‘Maybes’ For Marois

Qatar Racing’s progressive Arod (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}), second in the July 29 G1 Sussex S., could make a start in Sunday’s G1 Prix Jacques le Marois in Deauville, but trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam stressed the 4-year-old’s participation would depend on the ground.
“Arod is in the Jacques Le Marois, but there is a lot of rain forecast in France and if it is wet he won’t run,” the conditioner said. “If it is wet, he will then wait for the [G1] Prix du Moulin [de Longchamp Sept. 13]. He seems fine following his last run.”
Arod has yet to finish off the board in five outings this year. Those efforts include wins in the G3 Diomed S. June 5 and G2 Summer Mile July 11.
Another possible for the Marois is the star 3-year-old miler Gleneagles (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who swerved the Sussex due to the soft going and, like Arod, will only run if the rain stays away.
“We are looking at Deauville and will be watching the weather forecast this week,” said trainer Aidan O’Brien. “If they don’t get rain we will look hard at going there. He was ready to run in the Sussex S. at Goodwood and is in good form.”
