Arqana has catalogued 128 yearlings for its V.2 Yearling Sale Aug. 17. The sale is a proven source of quality, precocious racehorses often for inexpensive prices. A prime example is the Keith Dalgleish trained Middleham Park Racing owned filly Clem Fandango (Fr) (Elzaam {Aus}). Puchased last year by Federico Barberini for only €11,000, the 2-year-old has won and placed in all four outings to date including when third to 'TDN Rising Star' Lady Aurelia (Scat Daddy) in the G2 Queen Mary S. at Royal Ascot. This year's catalogue is available to view on www.arqana.com and features stock by exciting young French stallions like Siyouni (Fr) (Pivotal {GB}), Le Havre (Ire) (Noverre), Wootton Basset (GB) (Iffraaj {GB}) and Rio De La Plata (Rahy) among others. Some eye-catching pedigrees include lot 394 from Haras d'Etreham, a colt by Kendargent (Fr) (Kendor {Fr}) who is a half-brother to stakes winner and Group 2 placed La Berma (Ire) (Lawman {Fr}). Haras De Cadran offer a nicely bred filly as lot 414. The daughter of Dream Ahead (Diktat) is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Mariol (Fr) (Munir {GB}). Lot 434, from Haras des Capucines, is a colt from the first crop of GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner George Vancouver (Henrythenavigator) and is a half-brother to three stakes performers.
Arqana has slightly altered the conditions this year for their V.2 Beachcomber Hotels Challenge. From now on, the winner of the 2016 Challenge will be the first 2-year-old winner of a listed or group race in 2017.The purchaser and the owner of the horse at the moment that the challenge is won will each be offered a stay for two people in one of Beachcomber Hotels' luxurious establishments in Mauritius; Le Mauricia, Le Canonnier, Le Victoria or Le Shandrani. Last year, the challenge was won by the Frederic Rossi trained Trixia (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}), purchased at the 2014 sale for €85,000 by Alain Decrion.
