Godolphin's exciting 3-year-old Astern (Aus) (Medaglia d'Oro), who was on Monday ruled out of the G3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude after spiking a temperature, has now been removed from consideration for the main event, the G1 Caulfield Guineas, Oct. 8, according to Racing.com.
“He's made a good recovery but because he will miss the lead-up run on Saturday, we had to reconsider running him in the Guineas,” trainer John O'Shea told that site. “Nothing has been decided yet, but there are some good options for him, which we will assess over the coming days.”
A top-class juvenile, having won the G2 Silver Slipper S. and dead-heated for the victory in the G3 Kindergarten S., Astern was a dominating winner of the G1 Golden Rose S. Sept. 10.
