+ATTY PERSSE (IRE) (c, 2, Frankel (GB)">Frankel {GB}–Dorcas Lane {GB} {SW & MGSP-Eng, GSP-Fr, $120,205}, by Norse Dancer {Ire}) was well away from the two box and found a smooth rhythm along the fence in third through the early fractions of this debut. Angling into clear runway with three furlongs remaining, the well-backed 10-11 favourite was soon under urging and kept on strongly for three stiff reminders up the hill to score by 1 3/4 lengths from Hamada (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}), becoming the 11th winner for his freshman sire (by Galileo {Ire}). Camerone (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), a half to MG1SW Flotilla (Fr) (Mizzen Mast), finished a further five lengths adrift in fourth. “Mine don't always win first time as we don't overdo them at home, and that is just what we wanted,” explained winning trainer Roger Charlton. “He has done some routine work, but has always shown class. He is a good mover, with a good temperament, and I hope he makes up into a [G1] Racing Post Trophy [at Doncaster Oct. 22] horse. I would like to think he might as he stays well and is a classy horse. It is hard to tell [if he handles soft going] as he is a very good mover, but I don't think that ground would be a bother to him at all. He has always been a very professional horse.” Atty Persse is the only representative, to date, for the stakes-winning G2 Ribblesdale S. and G2 Lancashire Oaks placegetter Dorcas Lane (GB) (Norse Dancer {Ire}), who is out of a half-sister to G1 1000 Guineas victress Harayir (Gulch) and to the dual stakes-placed dam of G1 Jebel Hatta scorer Tryster (Ire) (Shamardal). The homebred bay's fourth dam is G1 Irish Oaks-winning Irish champion distaffer Give Thanks (GB) (Relko {GB}). Sales history: 200,000gns RNA Wlg '14 TATFOA; 160,000gns RNA Ylg '15 TATOCT.
