Baffert Lands Vallenzeri for $1.9 million

Seven months after being led out of the ring unsold at Keeneland September at $7.7 million, Vallenzeri (A.P. Indy–Azeri, by Jade Hunter) found a new home when trainer Bob Baffert saw off all challengers to land the strapping chestnut for $1.9 million on Monday's opening night of Keeneland's April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. Baffert was representing Kaleem Shah, and up-and-coming owner who has made his presence felt at the two-year-old sales this year. Vallenzeri is the first foal from Horse of the Year Azeri. Eddie Woods, agent, consigned Vallenzeri for his breeders, the Allen E. Paulson Living Trust.
