Jockey Wayne Lordan has been recruited by Ballydoyle to ride on a full-time basis. Lordan has for many years been closely associated with trainers Tommy and Fozzy Stack, and he has also been a key rider for David Wachman, for whom he rode Legatissimo (GB) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) to two Group 1 wins in 2015 for the Coolmore partners. David Wachman retires from training this year.
“I've been with the Stacks for about 16 years but this is a good opportunity for me,” Lordan said. “I'll keep my head down and give it a go.”
Meanwhile, Fozzy Stack–who will take over the training license from his father Tommy next year–has recruited Chris Hayes as a stable jockey. Hayes rode Awtaad (Ire) (Cape Cross {Ire}) to victory in this year's G1 Irish 2000 Guineas for trainer Kevin Prendergast, and with rider Billy Lee also staying on with Stack, Hayes will still have the option to ride for Prendergast when he chooses.
“I am looking forward to working with Chris after the Dubai Carnival and hopefully we'll have some good times together,” Stack said. “He was champion apprentice three times, which is a rare achievement, and is a Classic-winning rider. Billy Lee, who had a brilliant season, will stay on in some capacity too, and he will be used as Chris will still have the choice to ride for Kevin Prendergast when he so wishes.”
