Multiple Grade I winner Bayern (Offlee Wild–Alittlebitearly, by Thunder Gulch) will begin his stud career next season at John Sikura's Hill 'n' Dale for a fee of $15,000, the farm announced Monday evening. The 4-year-old, who won last year's GI Breeders' Cup Classic and GI Haskell Invitational, retired last month with six wins and earnings of $4,454,930.

“The hallmark of Hill 'n' Dale's stallion operation is always to offer exceptional value to our breeders,” Sikura said. “We are extremely excited about Bayern. He is a striking individual who was the rare racehorse that was as talented going short as he was at the American Classic distance of 1 1/4 miles. He has a true stallion's pedigree, hailing from the immediate family of the taproot broodmare Courtly Dee, whose influence was so carefully cultivated by Helen Alexander and partners. At $15,000 live foal, we believe he represents extreme value for those breeding commercially, as well as those breeding to race.”

Bayern is available to breeders for inspection at Hill 'n' Dale. There will be a Breeders' Open House on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a stallion show each day at 1:30.
