Spendthrift Farm's Beholder (Henny Hughes) earned the fourth Eclipse statue of her career when she was named champion older female during Saturday's awards ceremony at Gulfstream Park. Winner of the GI Vanity Mile H. in June, the bay mare was second in three straight starts, including a runner-up effort behind California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) in the GI Pacific Classic, but ended the year, and her career, with an unforgettable victory over Songbird (Medaglia d'Oro) in the GI Breeders' Cup Distaff. Beholder received 246 first-place votes and Stellar Wind (Curlin) received two.
