Diversify backed up a big-figure debut win with an extremely impressive romp at Belmont in his first try against winners to become the newest 'TDN Rising Star'. Debuting here going 1 1/16 miles July 14, the gelding set a strong pace and still came home well in the clear, scoring by 4 1/2 lengths with a 90 Beyer. Breaking sharply as the 11-4 third choice in this feature, the $150,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga buy broke sharply and dictated splits of :23.52 and :46.68. Born for a Storm (Flatter), the 7-5 chalk, made a big three wide bid on the far turn and appeared poised to tackle the leader passing the quarter pole, but Diversify easily shrugged that one off by the top of the stretch and drew away strongly in the lane to score by 5 1/2 lengths in a very sharp final clocking. The favorite held for second. Diversify's dam is a half to GSW Lady Digby (Grand Slam). Her most recent produce is a yearling filly by Data Link. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $73,200.
