NYRA announced today that the 2014 Belmont S. day card June 7 will offer total purses of $8 million and feature 10 stakes. The only card last year with higher total purses was Breeders' Cup Saturday and last year's Belmont card, which included six stakes, totaled $2,95 million. The 13-race card will be the centerpiece of the new three-day “Belmont Stakes Festival.” The GI Belmont S., GI Manhattan H., GI Just a Game S., GII Woody Stephens S., and the Easy Goer S. In addition the GI Metropolitan H. will be moved to this card, as will the GI Ogden Phipps, GI Acorn, GII Brooklyn Invitational, and GIII Jaipur S. The GII True North will be contested on Friday June 6 and a new race known as the Belmont Gold Cup Invitational will be run at two miles on the turf.
