You can't get a more Classic pedigree. A colt from the first crop by champion and GI Preakness S. winner Bernardini (A.P. Indy), out of GI Kentucky Oaks heroine Bird Town (Cape Town), who is herself a half to GI Belmont S. victor Birdstone (Grindstone)–sire of this year's GI Kentucky Derby and GI Belmont winners–was knocked down to John Ferguson for a bid of $1.3 million at FTSAUG Monday night. Bred by Marylou Whitney, who campaigned both Bird Town and Birdstone, the March foal was consigned by Gainesway, agent.
