+THIRD DAY (c, 2, Bernardini–Onebadkitty {SW, $171,708}, by Street Cry {Ire}) worked over the local strip dating back to mid-May and finalized his preparations for this career debut with a sharp four-panel gate move in :48 flat (3/66) July 24. Taking significant late money to be the 12-5 second choice, the dark bay was hustled away to sit third as Our War Eagle (Unbridled's Song) and favored Cohen's Kat (Einstein {Brz}) dueled through a :22.49 quarter-mile. The former edged away from the latter at the top of the straightaway, but Third Day soon pounced, took over from that one just outside the sixteenth pole and pulled away late to a 2 1/4-length success. Our War Eagle held on to complete the exacta. The winner initially sold for $150,000 as a KEESEP yearling before going for $575,000 after breezing a quarter-mile in :21 flat at OBS March. His dam and second dam were both stakes winners in California. Onebadkitty's most recent produce is a filly by Into Mischief foaled this year. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $25,650.
