Bernardini Half to Beethoven Brings $625,000

A bay colt named Wilburn from the first crop of champion Bernardini (A.P. Indy) brought a bid of $625,000 to lead the way midway through Monday's selling at Keeneland April. The colt, a half-brother to GSW Beethoven (Sky Mesa) who was hammered down to Arch Bloodstock, agent, for just $75,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton October Yearling Sale, was purchased by Stonestreet Stables. Catalogued as hip 73, he was the lone horse to selling from the consignment of William M. Helmbrecht, agent. Wilburn was produced by the 10-year-old GSW Moonlight Sonata (Carson City).
