IEAH Stables and Paul Pompa Jr.'s Big Brown (Boundary) will make his next start in the Aug. 3 $1 million GI Haskell Invitational S. at Monmouth Park, IEAH Co-President Michael Iavarone confirmed. “We always keep our options open, but the Haskell seems to make the most sense for a number of reasons,” Iavarone told the TDN. “All is well with Big Brown right now, and we are anxious for him to bounce back from the Belmont and once again showcase his abilities. We're hopeful the Haskell gives him the perfect platform.” The winner of the GI Kentucky Derby and GI Preakness S., Big Brown was eased by jockey Kent Desormeaux during the stretch run of the June 7 GI Belmont S. and did not finish the race. The three-year-old was given a clean bill of health after a post-race veterinary examination.
