Big Brown Works for Belmont

Big Brown (Boundary), who is looking to become Thoroughbred racing's firsrt Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978, got in his final work ahead of Saturday's GI Belmont S., going five-eighths of a mile in 1:00 Tuesday morning at the Long Island oval. Exercise rider Michelle Nevin was in the irons. The work was his first since winning the GI Preakness S. May 17 and first since being treated for a quarter crack on the inside of his left front hoof. Owned by IEAH Stables, Paul Pompa Jr., et al, Big Brown is expected to face a field of nine in Saturday's 1 1/2-mile event.
