Big Morning For Winx

All eyes will be on Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) on Monday morning at Randwick as she takes in the first of two intended barrier trials ahead of her reappearance in the G2 Warwick S. Aug. 19. The brilliant mare has never won a barrier trial before and her trainer Chris Waller is not expecting that to change on Monday and he commented, “She will have a normal trial. A trial is just like a pre-season game. It's to test her fitness and readiness for racing. I would expect her to be midfield and I will be pleased if Hugh Bowman comes back and tells me she feels fit and well.” The main focus of the new campaign will be to make Winx a triple G1 Cox Plate winner and assuming all goes to plan her route towards that race in October could include the G2 Chelmsford S. Sept. 2, the G1 George Main S. two weeks later then either the G3 Craven Plate in Sydney Oct. 14 or the G1 Caulfield S. over the same distance on the same day.
