Bin Suroor Seeks Special Win

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor has found the Listed UAE 1000 Guineas to be happy hunting ground, and the Godolphin conditioner seeks his 10th win in that contest at Meydan on Thursday when he saddles Really Special (GB) (Shamardal) and Voice Of Truth (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}).

Really Special, winner of the Listed Montrose Fillies' S. over a mile at Newmarket in October, lived up to her name when extending her unbeaten record to three with a 3 1/4-length win in her dirt debut in Meydan's 1400 metre 1000 Guineas trial on Jan. 19. “Really Special has won all three of her career starts and is a filly we really like,” said Bin Suroor. “The extra 200 metres will suit her as she won a 1600 metre listed race at Newmarket in October and we think she has a massive chance.”

Trial second Complimenti (Congrats) reopposes for trainer Doug Watson, who won this last year with the ultra-impressive Polar River by the same sire. Unlike that stable companion, however, who was a 'TDN Rising Star' after breaking her maiden on debut at Meydan and went into this unbeaten, Complimenti seeks her first win in her third outing.

The ever-dangerous Mike de Kock brings a new shooter in Fursa (Aus) (Hard Spun), a Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed in South Africa last year who makes her local and dirt debut.
