Friday, Chester, post time: 14:35, THE DEEPBRIDGE HUXLEY STAKES-G2, £170,000, 4yo/up, 10f 70yT
Field: Bay City Roller (Ire) (New Bay {GB}), High Stock (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), Ice Max (GB) (Dark Angel {Ire}), King's Gambit (Ire) (Saxon Warrior {Jpn}), Lambourn (Ire) (Australia {GB}), Royal Rhyme (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), Starford (Ire) (Beckford {GB}), Sky Safari (GB) (Zoustar {Aus}), Sparks Fly (GB) (Muhaarar {GB}).
TDN Analysis: Last year's Chester Vase and Derby winner Lambourn returns over a trip shorter than ideal with cheekpieces fitted to get him into the groove quicker than might be the case. Bay City Roller missed Friday's Jockey Club Stakes due to Newmarket's fast ground and gets a kinder surface here but is another who may need further and has a Group 1 penalty while Royal Rhyme needs to prove he retains his old ability which would probably see him win. [Tom Frary].
Friday, Cologne, Germany, post time: 18:30, SAUREN DACHFONDS PREIS (EX GERLING-PREIS)-G2, €70,000, 4yo/up, 12fT
Field: Hochkonig (Ger) (Polish Vulcano {Ger}), Zuckerhut (Ger) (Almanzor {Fr}), Alleno (Ire) (Nathaniel {Ire}), Enzian (Ger) (Zarak {Fr}), Padre Palou (Ger) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}), Waldnebel (Ger) (Reliable Man {GB}), Wintertraum (Ger) (Lord Of England {Ger}).
TDN Analysis: All seven original entries stand their ground, with the draw also remaining in place, in this rescheduled contest. Last term's G1 Deutsches Derby hero Hochkonig has not been seen since annexing Hamburg's July highlight and lines up returning off a 306-day break. His rivals include Derby also-rans Enzian, Zuckerhut and Waldnebel, with Zuckerhut having previously lowered Hochkonig's standard in June's G2 Union-Rennen. Last year's hero Alleno is best of the older brigade and comes back off a third in a course-and-distance Listed heat last month. [Sean Cronin].
Saturday, Lingfield, post time: 14:40, THE WILLIAM HILL CHARTWELL FILLIES' STAKES-G3, £100,000, 3yo/up, f/m, 7fT
Field: Copacabana Sands (Ire) (Sands Of Mali {Fr}), Dash Of Azure (GB) (Blue Point {Ire}), Fouette (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}), Havana Pusey (GB) (Havana Grey {GB}), La Brodeuse (GB) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}), Mandurah (Ire) (Kingman {GB}), Royal Velvet (GB) (Lightning Spear {GB}), Sunlit Uplands (Ire) (Sands Of Mali {Fr}).
TDN Analysis: Copacabana Sands gets Ryan Moore for the first time following her shift from Michael O'Callaghan to Andrew Balding and that extra help in the saddle on a filly that already has a class edge only enhances the gap to the others. Successful in the Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes and G3 Ballycorus Stakes over this trip last term, she may be given most to do by Royal Velvet, who makes her black-type debut having won a handicap at Newmarket's Craven meeting last month, and last year's Listed October Stakes runner-up Dash Of Azure. [Tom Frary].
Saturday, Lingfield, post time: 13:58, THE WILLIAM HILL LINGFIELD DERBY TRIAL STAKES-Listed, £60,000, 3yo, c/g, 11f 133yT
Field: A Taste Of Glory (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}), Balzac (Ger) (Japan {GB}), Bay Of Brilliance (GB) (New Bay {GB}), Isaac Newton (Ire) (Camelot {GB}), Maho Bay (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), Maltese Cross (Fr) (Sea The Stars {Ire}).
TDN Analysis: TDN Rising Stars Maho Bay and Maltese Cross tackle a track and trip that's as close to the Derby as possible with Classic prospects hanging in the balance. Charlie Appleby cast doubts on the former's suitability for Epsom in the immediate aftermath of his Newmarket win last month and this voyage of discovery over Lingfield's undulations will tell him more with regards to the Blue Riband. Maltese Cross beat some smart peers in a key Newbury conditions event on his three-year-old bow and the stable's runners have moved up a notch in the interim. Much faster than I'm The One on that card, William Haggas's leading Derby hopeful has to be considered one of Britain's live contenders for the Classic on the first Saturday in June until proven otherwise. Aidan O'Brien has resumed his customary winning rampage through the May Derby and Oaks trials and it would be a mistake to rule out Isaac Newton on previous form, with his trainer warning that he expects him to leave that behind at some point. [Tom Frary].
Saturday, Lingfield, post time: 13:28, THE WILLIAM HILL OAKS TRIAL FILLIES' STAKES-Listed, £60,000, 3yo, f, 11f 133yT
Field: Amora Queen (Ger) (Waldgeist {GB}), Bloom (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Cameo (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), Prizeland (GB) (Territories {Ire}), Romantic Symphony (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}).
TDN Analysis: This sees another Godolphin TDN Rising Star putting her reputation on the line in the unbeaten Romantic Symphony, whose wins at Newmarket and Kempton only suggest what she is capable of at present. Regarding potential, it's all in the pedigree with her being a full-sister to Yibir and Wild Illusion and we'll know more after she tackles Ballydoyle's Cameo and Bloom. Ryan Moore has picked the former, which is surprising given the promise of Bloom's third in Navan's Listed Salsabil Stakes, while Prizeland must be respected on her eight-length novice success on the Polytrack here last month. [Tom Frary].
Saturday, Naas, post time: 16:57, DARLEY IRISH EBF NAAS OAKS TRIAL STAKES-Listed, €33,000, 3yo, f, 10f 84yT
Field: Caught U Sleeping (Ire) (Cotai Glory {GB}), Eretria (Ire) (Camelot {GB}), Ice Dancer (Ire) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), La Fogata (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}), Mixed Feelings (Ire) (Sioux Nation), Pollenca (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}), River Ara (Ire) (St Mark's Basilica {Fr}).
TDN Analysis: Eretria was runner-up to her subsequently Group-placed Emmeleia on debut at Dundalk before taking her Leopardstown maiden by 6 1/2 lengths and is an exciting prospect alongside Mixed Feelings, who also scored by a wide margin there last month. Wayne Lordan has picked Ice Dancer of the Ballydoyle duo and while last year's G3 Staffordstown Stud Stakes third started her campaign with a whimper when last in Navan's Listed Salsabil Stakes, she was coming into season and may have had an excuse.
