Charlie Appleby is looking forward to getting Blue Point (Ire) (Shamardal) back into top company after a mid-season break and has penciled in the G1 32Red Sprint Cup at Haydock Sept. 9 as a probable starting point The 3-year-old confirmed his juvenile promise, which included a win in the G2 Gimcrack S. at York last year, when claiming the notable scalp of Harry Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) in the G3 Merriebelle Stable Pavilion S. at Ascot in May before running with credit when third behind Caravaggio (Scat Daddy) and Harry Angel in the G1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. “Blue Point is in good nick and he is cantering away now. All being well, he will head to Haydock,” Appleby said on Tuesday. “The next couple of weeks will be telling when we step his exercise up again. He looks great and it is not like we are dealing with a horse that has been injured and his having his first run of the season. He has had that bit of a break and I'm very pleased with him,” he added.
