Blue Creek (GB) (Street Cry {Ire}), the first foal out of dual British Classic winner Blue Bunting (Dynaformer), is set to debut Friday in a 1600 meter maiden at Meydan in Dubai.
“He is a nice young horse,” said trainer Charlie Appleby. “He won his trial nicely so the surface is no issue. He will stay further in time but a 1600 meter maiden looks the ideal start point.”
Blue Bunting, the winner of the G1 1000 Guineas, G1 Irish Oaks and G1 Yorkshire Oaks in 2011, has a yearling filly by Dubawi (Ire) and this year produced a colt by New Approach (Ire).
Blue Creek, who will make his first start on the day he officially turns three, will face elders in the dirt test, including the 4-year-old Jununee (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), also a first-time starter. Trained by Mike de Kock for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa al Maktoum, Jununee was a 340,000gns yearling.
“He shows ability at home,” jockey Wayne Smith said of Jununee. “He is going to improve for the run but is ready for his first race.”
