Boudot Sets New Record

Pierre-Charles Boudot sets a new record on Saphirside | Scoop Dyga

Pierre-Charles Boudot has broken the record for the number of winners ridden in a season by a jockey in France. Win number 229 for Boudot aboard Saphirside (Ire) (Elusive City) at Chantilly on Sunday overtook the previous record of 228 set by Christophe Soumillon. Despite breaking one record, the jockey now has his sights set on another one, with Boudot determined to try and break the European record for wins ridden in a season, set by former German champion Peter Schiergen back in 1995. The 23-year-old jockey has 11 weeks to achieve his next objective.

“It is very satisfying because I have been recording good results for a few years now and to beat the record was a great challenge,” he commented. “Now I am chasing the European record of Peter Scheirgen and I hope I can keep up the same rhythm until the end of the year with a hope of getting close to it and maybe passing it.”
