Jockey Hugh Bowman won the Nathan Berry Medal as the leading rider based on a points system over the two days of The Championships. Bowman accrued 14 points and came from behind with four wins on Saturday's card, headed by the G1 Australian Oaks aboard Sofia Rosa (NZ) (Makfi {GB}).
The award is named in honour of Nathan Berry, a jockey who died two years ago of a rare illness. Damien Oliver finished second in the running for the medal, with Nathan's twin brother Tommy Berry third.
“The Nathan Berry Medal is close to the heart of all the boys in that jockeys room and I feel privileged to have taken out the award,” said Bowman, who was winning the medal for the second straight year.
