Following widespread criticism of the racing surface at Eagle Farm the remainder of the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival has been transferred to Doomben. Three days of Group 1 action had been scheduled to take place at Eagle Farm over the next four weeks beginning with the G1 Queensland Oaks on Saturday, the Stradbroke meeting June 10 and the G1 Tatts Tiara June 24. However following consultation with various stakeholders the decision was made in the interest of fairness to make the switch. “The consensus from feedback was that while Eagle Farm was safe for racing, it is an inferior racing surface,” Racing Queensland CEO Dr Eliot Forbes told Racing.com. “Racing Queensland is committed to providing outcomes that are in the best interests of the industry as a whole and that includes a racing surface befitting the quality of the horses and races being contested. Eagle Farm and Doomben are premier venues for racing in Queensland and we want to ensure the racing experience at both is consistent with that standard,” Forbes added.
