British-trained horses have fared well so far during Deauville's August festival and that nation accounts for seven of the 11 runners, and all of the standard-setters, in a competitive renewal of the G3 Shadwell Prix du Calvados on Saturday. Boasting the smartest form is the Listed Star S. runner-up Capomento (Ire) (Casamento {Ire}), who was touched off by a nose by the subsequent G3 Sweet Solera S. winner Tajaanus (Ire) (Arcano {Ire}) in that July 27 Sandown contest. Other compatriots with black-type form include the Richard Hannon-trained Model (Fr) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}), who was a short-neck second to another from that country in Izzy Bizu (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) in the Listed Prix Six Perfections over this course and distance on July 29, and the July 29 G3 Princess Margaret S. third and fourth Musical Art (Ire) (Dutch Art {GB}) and Spring Cosmos (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}). If the prize is to be kept at home, the Wertheimers' Polydream (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}) is the most likely candidate, but it is interesting that the team behind this year's G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Precieuse (Ire) (Tamayuz {GB}) are re-opposing her with Fou Rire (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}), who was two-lengths second to her on debut over six furlongs here on July 30.
