Unbeaten G3 Prix des Reservoirs victress Trixia (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) could cross the English channel to contest Newmarket's G1 Qipco 1000 Guineas May 1.
Trixia won all four of her starts last season for owner Jean-Claude Seroul and trainer Frederic Rossi, but has since been switched to the care of Alain de Royer-Dupre. Trixia has not been seen since the Oct. 21 Prix des Reservoirs, and de Royer-Dupre said, “I am thinking about the Qipco 1000 Guineas for Trixia. She has been entered in the Prix Imprudence [at Maisons-Laffitte Apr. 7] and if she went there and ran well she would probably go to Newmarket.”
De Royer-Dupre is also considering a tilt at the preceding day's Qipco 2000 Guineas with the Aga Khan's Vedevani (Fr) (Dubawi {Ire}), who won at debut at Deauville in August before finishing second in the G3 Prix des Chenes in September.
Trixia could be joined in the Guineas by compatriots Left Hand (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), Sasparella (Fr) (Shamardal) and Pleasemetoo (Ire) (Vale Of York {Ire}); however, Carlos Laffon-Parias, trainer of the former pair, said he plans to keep his two apart.
“The Qipco 1000 Guineas could be on the agenda for either Sasparella or Left Hand, but I would like to keep them apart,” he said. “Sasparella will probably head for the Prix Imprudence while we will find something else for Left Hand. If they both win their comeback races one will go to Newmarket and the other will run in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches.”
