Brown Trio Head Sands Point

La Coronel

As has become the norm in turf event for fillies in New York, trainer Chad Brown offers a trio of competitors in the latest renewal of the GII Sands Point S. Chief among them is Klaravich Stables and William Lawrence's Inflexibility (Scat Daddy), who draws the outside in this competitive affair. Having already recorded a win over this turf course earlier this spring, the Ontario bred finished third in the Woodbine Oaks and Queen's Plate this summer before coming home a winner in the 10-furlong Wonder Where S. for Ontario breds July 30. Brown also saddles Grade III victress Fifty Five (Get Stormy) and Uni (GB) (More Than Ready), runner up in the GII Lake Placid at Saratoga Aug. 19. Jimmy Toner sends postward the Phillips Racing Partnership and Pam Gartin representative Defiant Honor (Speightstown). A winner of half of six career starts, she most recently came home a narrow winner in the Aug. 24 Riskaverse S. Nik Juarez, a recent addition to the New York riders' colony, gets the mount. The most accomplished filly in the field-John Oxley's La Coronel (Colonel John)-won the GIII Jessamine at Keeneland last fall and added two more at the graded level this season-the Apr. 13 Appalachian S. and the Edgewood S. May 5. Off the board in fifth in the G1 Coronation S. at Royal Ascot in June, she finished fourth last time out in the aforementioned Lake Placid. Jose Lezcano joins the team this time.
