In the frame only once in six subsequent starts since his success in last year's G1 Grand Prix de Paris, The Niarchos Family's Erupt (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) has an ideal opportunity for a much-needed injection of confidence in a beleaguered renewal of the G2 Grand Prix de Deauville on Sunday. There were definite signs of a return to form when he was a strong-closing second in the July 3 G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and he attracted significant support for the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. at Ascot 20 days later, but after looking a threat two out he could only fade into fifth. Last year's winner Siljan's Saga (Fr) (Sagamix {Fr}) was just a neck behind Erupt when third in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, while the sole 3-year-old in the four-runner line-up is Stall Ullmann's Savoir Vivre (Ire) (Adlerflug {Ger}) who was second last time in Hamburg's G1 Deutsches Derby July 10.
