Richard Pell's Calculator (In Summation), who made a victorious return to the races Saturday at Santa Anita after over a year's absence, could make his next start in the Mar. 12 GII San Carlos S.
“He's had some issues, but he's a tremendous talent and it's really gratifying to get him back and to have him perform like this,” commented trainer Peter Miller. “For him to break bad, be five wide, run into the [speed] bias and hang tough was really gratifying.”
Saturday's allowance victory (video) marked Calculator's first start since breaking his maiden in last year's GIII Sham S.
“If he stays healthy, we could think about the San Carlos, going seven-eighths,” Miller said. “I don't know how far he really wants to go, but I think a mile, a mile and a sixteenth is within his wheelhouse.”
