Candy Ride Colt Makes $300K at KEEJAN

A Candy Ride (Arg) colt closely related to GSW & MGISP Chocolate Candy was hammered down to Brian Graves for $300,000 during the first hour of bidding on day two of the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale in Lexington. Bill Casner was the immediate underbidder. The chestnut is son of Gentelmen's Crown (Gentlemen {Arg}), a half-sister to Chocolate Candy, winner at three of the GIII El Camino Real Derby and runner-up in the GI Santa Anita Derby. Gentlemen's Crown is also kin to Danzig Crown (Danzig), the granddam of recent GI Malibu S. hero Twirling Candy, also a son of Candy Ride (Arg). Warrendale Bloodstock acquired the colt's dam carrying this, her first foal, for $65,000 at last year's Barretts January sale.
