The two-day Cape Premier Yearling Sale kicks off Thursday night at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in South Africa. Thirty-seven stallions are represented, with the first offspring of newcomers Oratorio (Ire) (Danehill), Twice Over (GB) (Observatory), Byword (GB) (Peintre Celebre) and What A Winter (SAf) (Western Winter) making their debut.
With three champion sire titles and with his offspring collecting three Horse of the Year titles, Dynasty (SAf)'s 15 yearlings on offer will be in high demand. One of the standouts is lot 220, a colt out of the Capture Him mare Garland (SAf). The colt, consigned by Maine Chance Farms, is a half-brother to G1 Gold Cup winner Waving Flag (SAf).
A yearling import by the late Graham Beck, the Fusaichi Pegasus mare Our Table Mountain excelled on the racetrack and with her daughter Silver Mountain (SAf) (Silvano {Ger}) recently winning the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas, she is fast becoming a star broodmare as well. Her Dynasty colt, lot 42, will be offered Thursday.
Leading sire Silvano (Ger) has 25 yearlings on offer. Klawervlei consigns lot 205, a colt out of Es La Vida (SAf) (Al Mufti), a full- sister to 2015 Champion sire Captain Al (SAf). G1 Durban July third Tellina (SAf) (Silvano {Ger}) has a full-sister on offer as lot 105, while Drakenstein Stud consigns lot 37, a Silvano colt out of Grade 3 winner National Banker.
Champion sire Captain Al is represented by 23 yearlings, with Klawervlei Stud consigning two well-related individuals in lots 191 and 81. Lot 191, a bay colt out of the Galileo (Ire) mare Della Scala (SAf), is a half-brother to multiple graded winner Blake (SAf) (Dynasty {SAf}), while G2 Sceptre S. winner Secret Of Victoria (SAf) (Goldkeeper) is the dam of Lot 81, a full-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner All Is Secret (SAf) (Captain Al {SAf}).
Drakenstein Stud's ever-consistent Trippi has 10 yearlings on offer including lots 197 and 243, both consigned by Drakenstein. Lot 197 is the eagerly awaited first foal of multiple Group 1 winner Ebony Flyer (SAf) (Jet Master {SAf}). Lot 243 is a colt out of Irish Torrent (Giant's Causeway) from the female family of Indian Choice (With Approval).
International additions to the sale include three yearlings by Big Brown, while Lope de Vega (Ire), Pluck, Poet's Voice (GB), Bernardini, Uncle Mo and Wanted (Aus) each have a yearling on offer. The first session commences at 5:30 p.m. local time Thursday. Click here for the catalogue.
