Capitalist (Aus) (Written Tycoon {Aus}), who earned 'TDN Rising Star' status with a first-out victory in Randwick's all-important Listed Breeders' Plate Oct. 3, makes his second start Thursday in Wyong's Magic Millions 2YO Classic , where he is heavily favored in the betting at $1.30. A A$165,000 Magic Millions purchase trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Capitalist was also the cozy winner of a Rosehill trial Dec. 8 in preparation for this. The chestnut is campaigned by a group that includes James Harron Bloodstock, Newgate Farm and Belinda Bateman.
The Breeders' Plate is often a reliable pointer to future racetrack success, and has been won in recent years by the likes of Vancouver (Aus) (Medaglia d'Oro)–this year's G1 Golden Slipper winner–Pierro (Aus) (Lonhro {Aus}), Smart Missile (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}), Sebring (Aus) (More Than Ready) and Snitzel (Redoute's Choice {Aus}).
