'TDN Rising Star' Capitalist (Aus) (Written Tycoon {Aus}), soundly beaten on seasonal debut in the Aug. 13 G3 San Domenico S. over soft ground, will bypass the G1 Golden Rose S. Sept. 10, according to Racing.com. The G1 Golden Slipper winner will instead be prepared for the G1 Coolmore Stud S. at Flemington Oct. 29, where he is likely to get his preferred ground.
Managing owner James Harron said the decision was made after consultation with trainers Peter and Paul Snowden and jockey Blake Shinn.
“The horse has come through the run in good order, he is really good actually, but just after speaking to Peter and Blake we decided it would be best to wait with him and aim at the Coolmore,” Harron told Racing.com. “He is definitely a better horse on top of the ground, he is a fast horse that shows his best when the tracks are firmer and that is what we are looking for. The Golden Rose was a possible early option for us, but given the conditions in Sydney it has been decided to focus our energy on the Coolmore, where there is more of a likelihood of conditions that he likes.”
Capitalist will have one prep run before the Coolmore, with options including the Oct. 1 G2 Roman Consul S., the Oct. 8 G2 Schillaci S. or the Oct. 12 G3 Blue Sapphire S.
