Sue Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith's Caravaggio (Scat Daddy), brilliant in posting three wins from as many trips to the post this season, is among 10 entries for Sunday's €250,000 G1 Keeneland Phoenix S. at The Curragh.
Bred in Kentucky by Windmill Manor Farms and Petaluma Bloodstock, the gray colt returns to the scene of his initial black-type victory in the Listed Marble Hill S. May 21 and exits a 2 1/4-length defeat of Mehmas (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}) in the June 14 G2 Coventry S. at Royal Ascot. The latter has since amplified the quality of the Coventry with scores in the G2 Arqana July S. at Newmarket July 7 and in the G2 Qatar Richmond S. at Glorious Goodwood July 28.
“Caravaggio has been in good form since Royal Ascot and everyone has been happy with him,” trainer Aidan O'Brien commented. “He has just been continuing his routine but it has gone well and we are pleased.”
