Dual Group 1-winning sprinter Caravaggio (Scat Daddy-Mekko Hokte, by Holy Bull) will shuttle to Coolmore Australia in 2018. Coolmore also announced this week that another of its Irish-based first-season sires, Churchill (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), will shuttle Down Under.
“Caravaggio was a very mature 2-year-old that developed into an awesome sprinter,” said Tom Magnier. “He has an excellent pedigree, free from Danehill and all our team see him as the perfect fit for this part of the world. With himself and Churchill joining the roster and American Pharoah returning, we're giving Australian breeders access to three world-class shuttle stallions. It's a very exciting time for the farm.”
Caravaggio went unbeaten at two for Aidan O'Brien, culminating in a four-length win in the G1 Keeneland Phoenix S. He added the G1 Commonwealth Cup last year at three, where he beat the subsequent champion sprinter Harry Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}), and also added the G2 Flying Five S. later in the season. The grey will stand for A$33,000.
