Returning to the Oklahoma training track Friday morning for her first breeze since a second-place finish behind the brilliant Songbird (Medaglia d'Oro) in the GI Coaching Club American Oaks July 24, Three Chimneys Farms' 'TDN Rising Star' Carina Mia (Malibu Moon) completed three furlongs in :36.84 (1/7) under the watchful eye of Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott.
The GI Acorn S. heroine will turn back to seven furlongs for the GI Ballerina S. on Travers Day Aug. 27.
“She was good,” Mott said. “It was a good work. She did it easily and we're happy with her. We know we're going up against older horses if we run in the Ballerina. We think seven-eighths to a mile distance is good for her. Obviously, she's a Grade I winner at a mile. I think it'll better for her than a mile and a quarter.”
