Four stakes for 2-year-olds–including a pair of Grade I races– will highlight the upcoming Winter Thoroughbred meet at Los Alamitos, it was announced Tuesday. The $300,000-guaranteed GI Los Alamitos CashCall Futurity and the $300,000-guaranteed GI Starlet will be renewed Saturday, Dec. 10. The Futurity will bear the CashCall name for the first time since the race was relocated from the now-defunct Hollywood Park.
“My friend Paul Reddam [founder of CashCall] did so much to support this race when it was contested at Hollywood Park that we felt it was appropriate to continue on with the name,'' said Los Alamitos owner, president and chief executive officer Dr. Edward Allred.
The eight-day season will begin Thursday, Dec. 8 and continue through Sunday, Dec. 18. Post time Thursdays and Fridays will be 1 p.m. while post time will be 12:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
