Casse Stretches for Super Saver

Super Saver continued his hot selling streak when hip 779 fetched $525,000 from trainer Mark Casse, who signed the ticket on behalf of an undisclosed client. The colt, who breezed in :10.1, is the third foal out of his unraced dam Tiz Fate (Tiznow).
“He's beautiful,” Casse said. “I know everyone is looking at the Super Savers, so hopefully he doesn't disappoint us all. We're always looking for Derby-type horses and he looks like that.”
Bred by Machmer Hall, the bay was purchased by Crupi's New Castle Farm for $180,000 at Keeneland September.
As to how he's developed, Jim Crupi said, “He was a nice-looking horse when I bought him and he's a man–he grew up to be a real man.”
Crupi has another Super Saver colt in his barn.
“The other one I have wants to go around two-turns–he's not as fast as this one, but just as nice,” he remarked. That colt will sell at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic.
The consignor made another score later in the sale when hip 810, a Hold Me Back filly he purchased for $18,000 at OBS August sold for $120,000. Business has been booming for Crupi this year. He pinhooked the Barretts March sales topper–a Giant's Causeway colt–for $1.15 million.
