BHA Disciplinary Practices Set For Review

The British Horseracing Authority, in the wake of the controversy surrounding the case of trainer Jim Best, has revealed its intended actions to ensure future disciplinary panels are free of perceived bias. Best was found guilty in March of instructing jockey Paul John to stop two horses and was handed a four-year suspension, but that decision was thrown out after it was discovered solicitor Mattew Lohn was being paid to do other work for the BHA. TBA, BHA Launch Filly Campaign

The Thoroughbred Breeders' Association and the British Horseracing Authority have launched the #thisfillycan campaign to promote the benefits of buying, owning and training fillies and mares for flat racing. The BHA recently undertook a review to better understand the profile of fillies in training, their race opportunities and their ability to compete against colts over the last decade. National Hunt Only For Wexford

Ireland's Wexford Racecourse will stage only National Hunt racing going forward in a decision taken at a Horse Racing Ireland board meeting. It was deemed that since the course was changed to left-handed in 2015, it is more suitable to jumps racing. Two planned flat fixtures will be switched to Gowran Park (July 23) and Navan (Aug. 27).

The event, titled Galop Expo will take place in Deauville October 18-20 a time that coincides with Arqana's October Yearling Sale and also racing at Deauville. Tally-Ho stud has reported the death of their stallion Society Rock (Ire) (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}–High Society {Ire}, by Key Of Luck) at the age of nine after succumbing to a bout of laminitis.
