Last years GI Beverly D. S. winner Euro Charline (GB) (Myboycharlie {Ire}) is on course for a title defense following her fine effort in finishing second to Amazing Maria (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) in the G1 Falmouth S. at Newmarket July 10. The lightly raced 4-year-old made a bright start to the season when running a highly creditable fourth to Solow (GB) (Singspiel {GB}) in the G1 Dubai Turf at Meydan in March before an uncustomary stalls issue denied her a run at Royal Ascot. Her trainer Marco Botti feels she will make a brave bid at Arlington Park for her owners Team Valor and commented, “Everything is good, I'm really happy with how she came out of Newmarket. We were obviously delighted with how she ran. She stayed on really well to grab second and we're looking forward to going back to Chicago for the Beverly D.” Botti feels the nine and a half furlong trip will play to her strengths and added, “I think the extra furlong will really suit her and I think we can be more confident than last year. We know she is up to that level, she is a Group 1 filly and physically she has improved since last season.” Euro Charline is proof that Group 1 horses are not out of everyone's reach. She was originally bought for the princely sum of 800gns at Newmaket as a yearling at Tattersalls' February Sale. Her career earnings to date are in excess of $900,000.
