'Chatterbox' Returns in Doubledogdare

I'm a Chatterbox | Keeneland/Coady

By

Last year's Eclipse Award finalist I'm a Chatterbox (Munnings) makes her 4-year-old debut in Friday's GIII Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare S. at Keeneland. A clear-cut winner of the Silverbulletday S., GIII Rachel Alexandra S. and GII Fair Grounds Oaks early last year, the Fletcher and Carolyn Gray homebred was third behind stablemate Lovely Maria (Majesticperfection) in the GI Kentucky Oaks in May. She returned to cross the wire first in Saratoga's GI Coaching Club American Oaks July 26, only to be placed second by the stewards behind Curalina (Curlin) for bumping with that rival in deep stretch. Second in the GI Alabama S. back at the Spa Aug. 22, she took Parx's GI Cotillion S. by daylight Sept. 19, and has been off since and eighth-place run in the Oct. 30 GI Breeders' Cup Distaff locally. Ahh Chocolate (Candy Ride {Arg}) ended her 2015 campaign on a high note, annexing the GII Fall City H. under the Twin Spires Nov. 26. That heat produced subsequent GIII Bayakoa S. and GII Azeri S. heroine Call Pat (Lawyer Ron); next-out GI La Brea S. upsetter Birdatthewire (Summer Bird); and impressive Thursday allowance winner No Fault of Mine (Blame). Ahh Chocolate was keen last time when returning in the muddy Esplanade S. at Fair Grounds Mar. 18, and had to settle for third as the favorite after losing ground around the home turn. Veteran conditioner Rusty Arnold–always dangerous at Keeneland–saddles a pair of runners in last-out Tampa stakes winner White Clover (Exchange Rate) and Pretty Fancy (Lemon Drop Kid), who was fourth beaten just 3/4 of a length in this spot 12 months ago.
